 Brist Croatia Brist is a small place and a port with the same name as a bay on the coast of Makarska littoral. It is the constituent part of Gradac district and it has around 450 inhabitants. Brist is a picturesque Dalmatian place for a comfortable and peaceful holidays in the south of Makarska riviera. Olive-groves and sources of potable water as well as many pebble bays represent a special tourist attraction. Local inhabitants are engaged in tourism, olive growing, growing vines and fishery. In each inhabitant's house one can buy olive oil, wine, schnapps and fresh fish when a fisherman arrives home from the sea.
 Brist beach Brist has a long cultural tradition, it is a birthplace of a famous Croatian poet Fra Andrija Kacic Miošic. There are the following cultural monuments in Brist: baroque church of St. Michael and a stone tower from the 17th century. The name Brist comes from the elm-tree (Ulmaceae - in Croatian BRIJEST) and dates from 1571, but the place is much older which confirms a medieval standing tomb-stone that is located in the old village above the today's Brist. Gastronomy offer: quality fish prepared in a baking dish, medallions of frogfish, seafood risotto, octopus salad, lamb, smoked ham (prosciutto), cheese and quality wines. Brist is surrounded by miles of marked promenades through the olive-groves and intact nature as well as with 12 km of arranged mountain cycle tracks, from where there is a breathtaking view of the islands and the beautiful Pelješac Channel.
